The combination of these three Morning Glories was a treat. Morning Glories open in the morning and close in the afternoon, lasting a single day.

Ike did it. The sound of the heart of a tree splintering is one you don't soon forget. As I stood on my sheltered back porch, I heard, then watched, as this tree splintered, then lowered itself slowly to the ground as hurricane force winds struck Cincinnati.

My husband called these unsung heros. Fungus, in this case mushrooms, perform an essential role by decomposing organic matter. These little guys were performing their role beautifully in my garden . . .

This fountain sits outside the medical building located directly behind Bethesda North Hospital. It attracted my attention everytime I left the building. The sound of the fountain was very pleasing, especially on a hot summer day.

A morning glory's flowers open in the early morning, allowing them to be polinated by bees, butterflies & humming birds. The bloom lasts a single morning and then closes in the afternoon. This morning glory grows in a pot on my front porch.

A random stop on a Sunday drive and we found the gardens at Kirkwood House & Inn just outside Mason. I was immediately taken by the beauty of the flowers. The zennias were in full bloom.

These flowers look like little dancing ballerinas to me and a song from Fantasia running through my head. The dance was taking place at Glenwood Gardens when I happened upon it.

Who's hiding in there? While taking a picture of this Chinese Bellflower growing in my mom's garden, I also captured a stowaway inside the flower. I think I see 8 eyes looking back . . .

A true sun worshiper. Black-eyed Susan's are a common American wildflower that grow along roadsides, in open fields, and in my brother's backyard.

Why blackberry you ask . . . well, when the seed capsule splits open it reveals a cluster of shiny black seeds which looks like a blackberry. And, it's not a lily but actually from the iris family. A pretty flower all the same.

Morning Glory, a flower from my youth, grew on the fence in our backyard. This year they grow in a planter on my front porch. I am transported back everytime one of the blooms opens up. Morning Glories open early in the morning and close up in the early afternoon, lasting only a few hours.
